Tito La Rosa, beloved sound healer, musician and national treasure of Peru returns to the United States to offer Viaje De Curacion (Healing Journey) Concerts and Sound Healing Flower Blessing Ceremonies November 2nd - December 9th, 2007
California - Oregon - Hawaii
To talk about Ayni Projects, it is first important to define what Ayni means.... Ayni is a Quechua word that means reciprocity. It is a cornerstone of Quechua culture, the natural flow, the give and take of everyday life when people in community participate in their collective well being. It is also a universal law that exists not only between people in community, but also between cultures, and between all objects of the natural world. When the Ayni between people is in balance, it creates a social climate in which there is more possibility for justice and well being.
A portion of event proceeds will be donated to AYNI Projects, a Northern California non-profit organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for a variety of worthy endeavors including a hospital and two schools to benefit a Quechua community in the Ancash region of Peru. It is also a tour to benefit you; that you glimpse the music and mystery of an ancient culture where the natural world and the power of love are paramount, that you fill yourself with all that these mystical sounds have to offer you.

"Tito's flower healing ceremonies are perhaps the most unique experience you may ever have. They certainly have been for me. I have personally felt Tito reach into my heart with a hauntingly beautiful melody from one of his many ancient instruments, and mend an old wound...Tito has been the most powerful teacher for me and absolutely pivotal to my life direction." -- RJ, California

More About Tito La Rosa
Tito La Rosa, a descendent of Quechua Indians of the Peruvian Andes, has devoted over a decade to recovering and preserving, studying and intuiting the ancestral music of Peru.
La Rosa was asked by the Peruvian Institute of Culture to recreate the ancient sounds of the Mochica Culture for the Museum of the Lord of Sipan in Northern Peru. La Rosa was honored to accept their invitation to reproduce the music of a 2000 year-old-culture that had disappeared into time. "Time, like death - is a lie," states La Rosa.
Experimenting with the sounds of the 2000-year-old musical instruments found onsite, speaking with the archeologists, listening to the sounds of the wind and the murmuring of the birds in flight, La Rosa was deeply moved by this acoustical and magical Ochican world, resulting in new "ancient" compositions.
Featured guest artist on New Age superstar Kitaro's 2001 Grammy-winning CD "Thinking of You," La Rosa has recently toured with Kitaro in Japan. Kitaro has said of La Rosa, "His attraction to the Spirit Dimension and his love of all things from the nature world allow him to traverse musical landscapes with tranquility and deep passion." La Rosa's 2002 CD, "The Prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor" was nominated for a Native American Music Award for Best World Music Recording.
La Rosa was a main presenter at the International Conference on Traditional Instruments in Contemporary Music, sponsored by the French Government. He also participated in "Heart and Hands: Musical Instrument Makers of America," a Smithsonian traveling exhibit.

The Flower Ceremony
Ceremonia de las Flores. The Blessing of the Flowers, is an ancestral ceremony passed down to Tito from the Q'ero elders from Cuzco. It is a ceremony of a community that has been adapted and passed down for hundreds of years.
Imagine that out of the limits of time and space that Kokepelli or a Spirit of Music is standing in your living room.
For this occasion you have filled the room with flowers and candles and you have invited 20 or so of your best friends and family for you are not sure what. You have been requested not to eat for 2 hours before so that you can feel light and open and curious.
He begins to set up his mesa, he lays out the ancient beautifully woven tapestries from high in the Andes. On them he places with loving respect the sacred objects that represent the four directions and the four elements. He lays out his ancestral instruments, his condor bone and condor feather flutes, his churango, the patuto (conch shell), his 2000 year old ceramic antara, along with the new wind wand, a gift from a friend in California. As he does this he appears to be in a meditative trance. Occasionally he looks up, peering at members of the audience with silent intent. Eventually he has his mesa just the way he wants it. By now the feeling in the room has changed from restless curiosity to a gentle expectant stillness.
He stands, his face serene, seemingly in prayer he holds the conch to his mouth with one hand and raises the other hand to the sky as he begins to call in the spirits of nature, the spirits of the elements and of the four directions. The room is filled with a vibration that raises the frequency of everyone in it. The ceremony has begun and with it time stops as we are transported into the sound, into ourselves yet connected by the sound to each other.
He moves about the room, now playing the pan flute made of condor quills, the one he made after seeing it in a dream. Its sound pierces the room raising the energy to even a higher frequency.
As he moves, he is guided throughout the room letting intuition tell him what to do next.
Choosing a different instrument to play to each person, he goes from one person to another. It seems like he is massaging the body of the group with the sound. As one person lets go and moves from side to side, or takes a deep breath and smiles, or releases the tears that want to be set free, a wave of relaxation moves through the room.
He plays to each person sounds that they need to hear to feel their power, to feel their vulnerability or to feel their love. Sometimes he stops, kneels or stands tall, eyes closed to just breathe, to empty himself and to wait for the next moment to instruct him in the work of healing. At these moments he returns to his mesa and the relationship that he has with his instruments.
When the ceremony ends, the vibrations of peace and love are palpable. The group rises, forming a circle in silence. Gradually and spontaneously those that feel like it express what is in their hearts by offering prayers or blessings.
After the close of the ceremony Tito carefully places each instrument back into their bag with care and gratitude. To Tito, they are alive.
